You're listening to Podcasting Made Simple. and family. If you find that you're doing things manually and exerting your time and energy on tasks that you could automate, you might want to ask yourself, why am I not automating this? There is a reason that cleaning services exist. Cleaning can be time consuming. The task takes away valuable time that could be spent with my family or growing a business. That's why many people choose to hire a cleaning service to do the job In my case, I hired a cleaning service to come into a deep clean of my house twice a month. It's been a game changer. Not only does it save my wife and me from the hassle of cleaning ourselves, but it also allows us to spend more time with family. There's a reason why robot vacuums exist. In this day and age, we are fortunate to have technology advancements that allow us to simplify our daily tasks. Robot vacuums have brought a significant change in how we maintain our homes, our studios, whatever it might be. With their help, we no longer have to worry about cleaning the floor after we accidentally dirty the floor. Instead, we can now set the robot to do the work and it will take care of the cleaning for us. This has made our lives much easier as we now can focus on other important tasks. And as a result, we only need to manually vacuum once a week instead of daily, which is a major time saver. There is a reason my lawn irrigation system controller is smart. Many homeowners install lawn irrigation systems to keep their grass and plants healthy. However, a traditional system that runs on a set schedule can lead to unnecessary water consumption and can cause damage to the lawn. That's why we have a smart irrigation system. that can adjust to weather conditions and soil moisture levels. And it's a great solution by using precise weather data. A smart irrigation system can determine when and how much water to apply to the lawn for each zone, reducing waste and preventing overwatering or underwatering. This way, the lawn stays healthy and green all year round while also conserving water. There is a reason I have an alarm system that can turn on when no one is in my house and we are a mile or more away. This feature comes in handy when we are away from our home and we want to ensure the safety and security of our property. It gives us a sense of peace of mind knowing that our home is protected when we are not there. There is also a reason why my front door locks after four minutes of being unlocked. By using a smart door lock, I can ensure that if someone accidentally forgets to lock the front door, it will automatically lock itself after a set period of time. Again, ensuring that security is in place. There is a reason why my thermostat can turn to away mode if my wife and I are more than five miles from the house. Smart thermostats have come a long way since first introduced. The majority of them offer that geofencing feature. But as I've learned, most of the popular smart thermostats offer one-way communication to your HVAC. whereas others, all of her two-way, it can actually tell you if something is wrong and exactly why. There is a reason why my garage door can automatically close after a certain amount of time when I'm away from home. If, for some reason, we go on vacation and forget to close it, the problem is solved. If whoever is helping water our plants or feed our cats comes through the garage and forgets to close it, problem solved. There is a reason, at night, a lamp light gets brighter when my kids walk by a sensor while headed toward my bedroom. Our bedroom is up a few steps. So instead of our kids potentially tripping or falling down the stairs in the middle of night, the dark stairway is illuminated as soon as they walk toward it. Then after a minute of them no longer on the stairs, the lights go off again. These things exist for a reason. There are products and services that are available practically anywhere in the world. Products and services that are outsourced to free up time. or physical hardware or digital software to free up time. So why not use them to improve your life? Why not use them to improve your podcast? Why not use them to improve your business? AI or machine learning and automation, these are powerful tools based on science. They're meant to replicate tasks that are typically performed by humans, but with greater speed and accuracy. These technologies have the potential to transform industries and improve efficiency in ways that were previously unimaginable. Manually, they're tedious, and they're mundane, and they're annoying, and they're stressful. And I'd much rather be hanging out with my kids, riding my bike, doing one of my katas, or going on a zen-filled photo walk. This is the reason. I would much rather be having this conversation with you. than spending my time vacuuming my studio or composing lead-irterring emails. Human interaction is much more fulfilling than the mundane tasks that make up our daily routines. Don't you agree? It's important to consider the potential benefits that automation, machine learning, and artificial intelligence can bring to both our personal and professional lives, from streamlining repetitive tasks to uncovering valuable insights. These technologies have the power to transform the way we live and work. So if you haven't yet explored how automation, machine learning, or AI can fit into your life and business, now is the time to start and think about it. And you will today. Automation and machine learning already exists inside so many devices we use regularly, like our phones, with advanced features like People detection, animal detection, facial recognition, speech recognition, routine recognition, devices are smarter than ever before. These features not only enhance the overall performance of our phones, but also make them more intuitive and user-friendly, helping us to do more in less time. Refrigerators can tell you what food is inside, what is low, and what needs to be restocked. Think about that. That's AI. Monitor calibration devices or tools. that can help ensure accurate and consistent color rendering on computer screens. This is extremely useful for photo and video editing, like for our shows. By automating the process, these devices can save time and effort while also producing more reliable results. They can even adjust the color profile depending on the lighting conditions in the room where the monitor is being used, which could be essentially especially useful in environments where there are varying levels of ambient light. If you're looking to create a website for your podcast, there are some solutions available that can make the process much simpler and hassle-free. Solutions that can automatically create a layout and branding for your entire website based on your show, text, logo, all that you provide. This not only saves you time, but ensures that your website has a cohesive and professional look. Many podcast hosts are also automating full websites. So you don't have to worry about it yourself. You don't have to maintain any code. It does it for you. Some of the same website products can even get blog articles started for you. They can generate content ideas for you, research topics, even draft the initial content for a blog post. With the help of these tools, you can streamline your blogging process and produce high quality content more efficiently. But never use them as an end all be all. Always edit what the AI gets you started with. Design tools like Photoshop, Adobe Express, Canva, They have all been incorporating generative AI technology to simplify various design tasks. With the help of generative AI, these design tools can now offer a variety of advanced features like automatic image enhancement, smart object selection, shape creation, intelligent image resizing, so many others. It's never been easier to create podcast thumbnail artwork. You can even do it based on inspiration from a podcast artwork that you like. One of Photoshop's latest additions is their neural filters, which uses AI to apply various effects and adjustments to images. These filters can be used to alter facial expressions, age, or transform faces. They can change the background. They can do so many things. Photoshop offers a range of photo-specific generative capabilities, like the ability to create realistic textures and patterns. 3D models simulate lighting effects. If you crop too tight, or if your guest photo is cropped too tight, Photoshop can expand the frame as if it never happened. Need to swap out a squirrel from the background? No problem. Photoshop can replace it with whatever is around the area of that frame. AI has made it possible to automate various photo retouching processes and tasks, like masking subjects, whitening teeth, and enhancing eyes in photographs. These automations have made it easier and more efficient for photographers and photo editors to achieve desired results in less time. You can make you and your guests' faces look even more incredible in your artwork. There are so many regenerative text tools available that can assist you in writing high-quality blog content, ad copy, social media posts, and so much more. Two popular examples are ChatGPT and Google Bard. These tools, along with others like them, are integrated into various customer relationship management platforms, or CRMs, and email marketing software platforms to help with lead nurturing and client nurturing efforts. By utilizing these tools, businesses can streamline their content creation process, saving time and resources while still producing engaging and effective content. Modern CRMs can also analyze your new leads and compare their data to previous work you have done. In turn, it can predict what it would take to convert that lead to a customer, providing you with guidance and even estimate how long it might take to make that sale. Science, data, automation. Amazing, right? There are tools like Cast Magic and CapShow that can automate writing content from video and audio files. With these tools, you can easily convert spoken word to written text without manually transcribing them. This can save a lot of time and effort, especially for podcasters creating video and audio content. And you need to come up with YouTube descriptions and LinkedIn content and Facebook posts, all based on one episode. With the advancements many of these tools are making, I predict in a very short period of time, I will be able to start writing a book based on previous episodes. I just can't even fathom the fact that we're almost there. It's amazing. Some newer audio and video editing apps have revolutionized the way we edit all this content. For example, Descript harnesses the power of AI to expedite the editing process. With it, you can replicate voices, replace words, force eyes to look at the camera, remove filler words like ums and uz, and even enhance the quality of poor audio in just a matter of seconds. The application of AI in audio and video editing has made the task faster, more efficient, and significantly easier. Every episode of the podcast I host and produce is edited 100 % in Descript at this point, which has helped me become more efficient in my editing. Riverside FM is a virtual recording studio platform, which makes recording with remote guests extremely easy. They incorporate AI into their software to now provide you with show notes based on the recording. They also have magic clips, which are recommended snippets from your recording that it thinks will work well on social media. Its built-in editor also has become pretty robust, and in many ways, similar to what Descript is doing. Text-based editing, removing filler words, and much more. At the same time, Descript owns Squadcast, which is another virtual recording studio. With the integration in place, you can record with your remote guest and have the episode immediately imported to Descript. You can then edit it partially locally and partially on the cloud until it's fully downloaded and completely local. Brilliant, efficient, and time-saving. Social media has points where you need to manually use it, like replying to comments. However, you don't have to spend so much time posting. You can use tools like Buffer or Missing Letter to automate that effort and track effectiveness. All these things not only make sense, but they make our lives a whole lot better. By simplifying our daily tasks, reducing stress, and increasing efficiency, they are the key to unlocking a more enjoyable and fulfilling podcast and life. Find the balance and harmony in your life and in your podcast. Take some time to reflect on the areas where you can enhance, accelerate, and streamline your work.
